Last year I briefly tried out “Factor“, a meal delivery service, and after the first few meals wasn’t too impressed. The meals wound up costing about $15-18 each, and just weren’t good enough to warrant that sort of cost… That and the “Veho” delivery service they used was incredibly hit or miss with regard to delivery windows – or even delivery days.
So after about 90 days I called it quits and cancelled, and went back to $5-7 grocery store frozen meals – which aren’t healthy in any way, shape, or form – but are at least cheap.
Well, here I am in 2025 – another year closer to retirement and really looking to improve my eating choices… Enter “Cook Unity“, another boxed meal delivery service, but as opposed to Factor’s odd menu choices, Cook Unity purports to be chef prepared restaurant-style meals
The first problem I encountered is that Cook Unity also utilizes “Veho” for delivery, and lo and behold, my first box that was supposed to be delivered Sunday didn’t actually make it here until this afternoon…
Cook Unity seems to understand that Veho sucks though, and the box was really well insulated and had three layers of dry ice in it… Probably would have stayed cold for another two days.
Anyway, tonight I got to try my first meal…

So – an ingredient list that looks like stuff I can buy at King Soopers instead of DuPont – nice – and they actually recommend heating it up in the oven to preserve the texture of the food… Also nice.
Here’s what it looked like after 15 minutes at 350 degrees and plated on some of my fine china:

As with other meals that aren’t mostly fillers and extenders, the meal was super filling, and it was probably a $20-$25 meal at a restaurant as far as flavor and quality – but with the new member discount was $15.48 (A ‘premium’ meal, which cost more than the typical $12.49 – again with the new member discount)
So, in my sample size of one – Cook Unity tastes like a winner!
I have 7 more meals to get through before the 11th, and the next box of 8 meals should arrive every Sunday – but that remains to be seen. I’ve gone ahead and scheduled out my menu for the next two weeks based on being impressed by this one.
Hopefully this works out in the long run. I’m happy to pay a bit more for food that is tasty, and not ‘better living through modern chemistry’. Cook Unity just has to keep up withy the tasty part – and maybe research a better delivery method…
