Nineteen Cents Short of a Paradigm

Update

Well, I’m technically on vacation this week.

I say technically because I get emails every 30 minutes from someone at work needing me to do something only I can do, and it invariably needs to be done ASAP.

It’s not a big deal really – it’s not like I’m a sales guy who can afford to completely drop off the radar in some foreign country for a month… I’m lucky if I can afford to go to a theater for three hours.

Anyway, grousing aside, I just got back from getting the oil changed on the Hellcat…

I go to the local dealership for this, for two reasons – it keeps the extended warranty folks happy because the car gets worked on by SRT techs who document everything, and the dealership gave me a good deal on a six-pack of oil changes.

I’m pretty religious about the maintenance on the car as well – today was exactly six months from the previous oil change, even though I only put about 2300 miles on the oil.

The dealership also likes to rotate the tires as a value-ad when you get an oil change (the car is in the air, may as well right?) – and they did so with the Hellcat…

So, on the way out to collect the car with the service writer, I casually bet him that there would be enormous sticky drag radials on the front wheels of the car – and there were… So it took an extra 15 minutes to put them back on the correct ends of the car.

No harm, no foul. I should have mentioned it (I forget that they do it), and the tech working on the car is trying to bang out a hundred cars a day and just does what the service ticket says to do… He’s not evaluating that the tire sticks to his gloves and only has two tread grooves just to make them street-legal. 🙂
