It appears that I’m rapidly closing in on the end of 2025… Twenty Twenty Five…
That seems like an awful big number considering I remember the 1970’s.
I got a few days off this year – the week of the 15th to the 19th, Christmas and the day after, and I’ll get New Years Eve off as well… Not as good as last year when I pretty much took the month of December off, but work is down to just me now and I simply can’t be gone that long anymore.
I wonder what happens to the PTO days I have that I can’t use? I’ll have to ask HR tomorrow – if he’s in.
Christmas dinner this year was supposed to be a big Black Forest ham that was in the freezer – and I could have sworn I purchased just a few months ago – but it was July of ’24. The ham was pretty freezer burned, so we made the back-up Jennie-o turkey breast, some mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob.
Basic, but it beats the ‘festive nachos‘ I usually made at this time of year ages ago. 🙂
Christmas morning I drove over to Waffle House because they were open (they’re always open) and had some greasy spoon eggs, bacon, and coffee – and left the waitress a $50 tip for Christmas… Made her day. 🙂
This year has been one of those super mild winters we get here in Colorado every decade or so… So far this winter I’ve only had the car put away for about two weeks in early December – but since then it’s been in the mid-60’s and sunny so I’ve gotten an extended driving season.
It finally snowed again last night – about a half an inch – and it’s sunny outside right now so it’ll be gone by tomorrow. It’s going to be cold all week though, so I’ll get my roommate to drive me to the office and leave the car put away.
Other than that I’ve been playing with AI systems here at home… I have a really beefy Mac Studio that can run some pretty heavy models locally, so I have a few pet artificial intelligences that I do creative work with… Stuff like world building, character based role-play, and some minor image generation.
It keeps me entertained.
So, that’s pretty much the update. I just keep keep my head down, keep putting one foot in front of the other, and doing whatever it seems like I should be doing… It seems to be working, so I’ll keep at it. 🙂
