Took my roomie down to the Gunther Goody’s in Parker for dinner to get him out of the house for a while, and to get the Friday Night cruise out of the way… You see some amazing cars down in Parker; super cars, street rods, restored classics, anime fueled ricers, garage modded stuff like mine – the sky is quite literally the limit.
Parker road between Aurora and Parker is wide, flat, and 55mph, and there are a few lights a few miles apart, so there’s quite a bit of tomfoolery going on along it Friday nights…
For example, on the way down to dinner we had a hotrod Audi come flying up on us so I nailed it right as he got to the passenger door and let RSO grin at him as we pulled away – then the Audi and I exchanged thumbs up. Following this we were stopped at one of the aforementioned lights and he was forced to roll up next to us and he shouted “I didn’t want to line up at the light against you!” – then I did a 4-ish second 0-60 to demonstrate my superiority in the horsepower wars. 😀
A few minutes later a helmeted guy on some sort of fancy motorcycle rolled up as we were doing about 40 to create some room to run, and pointed down the road and downshifted – so I did the same then we both nailed it… And he too was found wanting.
More laughs and another thumbs up was exchanged as he tore off through the traffic we had caught up to.
And at this point we entered Parker – and the unwritten rule is to not do anything stupid inside the city limits of Parker because Parker is really pretty cool with the car culture down there and no one wants to mess that up. So we trundled along at the posted speed limit, gawking at cars that cost more than my house, to the south end of town where the restaurant is and had dinner.
Dinner was great, then we returned home… Traffic had gotten heavy enough that everyone was being well behaved, so it was just a lot of thumbs upping people and us “Brotherhood of Muscle” Dodge guys giving each other “V”‘s in passing.
And that’s pretty much an average Friday night for me. I keep meaning to stop by one of the several meetups at places like Freddy’s and In-N-Out, but I’m just not out that late.
